Yandex is the dominant search engine in Russia and has a substantial presence across Eastern Europe and parts of Central Asia. If your site has an audience in any of those regions, your structured data is being interpreted by Yandex’s crawler as well as Google’s, and the two engines don’t always behave identically. The Yandex Webmaster Structured Data Validator lets you check how your markup looks from Yandex’s perspective, and it’s included free within the Yandex Webmaster Tools platform.
The validator accepts a URL or pasted code and checks JSON-LD, Microdata, and other formats against Yandex’s supported schema types. Yandex supports a range of rich snippet types in its results, including reviews, recipes, and video markup, though the specific requirements and supported properties sometimes differ from Google’s. I’ve encountered cases where markup that passed Google’s validator had minor issues on Yandex, particularly around date formats and rating schema, so the cross-check is worthwhile.
The interface is in Russian by default, though it functions well enough even if you navigate by recognition rather than language comprehension. You’ll need a Yandex account to access Webmaster Tools and verify your site, which is a small barrier. For sites focused entirely on English-speaking markets, this tool is probably not worth the setup time. But if your analytics show any meaningful traffic from Russia or neighbouring countries, it takes less than an hour to set up and could surface issues that are quietly affecting your Yandex visibility.
